Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) specialty team members are needed in a healthcare facility located in Oak Lawn, Illinois. This role involves providing essential perioperative care in a busy, Level I Trauma Center that is Magnet designated and has a comprehensive stroke program. The position offers the opportunity to work in a modern facility with a variety of surgical procedures and patient types, including adult and pediatric cases.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 10-hour shifts, with a 6-week rotation schedule. Shift times include 0645-1715 and 1445-2315, with coverage required for weekends every 4th week. Holiday coverage is also required.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, at least 2-3 years of acute care experience (or 3 years for hybrid IR Tech), EPIC electronic medical record experience, and experience with adult and pediatric open-heart cases if applicable. Candidates must meet additional skills criteria including scrubbing and circulating in OR settings.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Trauma experience at level 1-2, experience with hybrid IR patient types, Siemens equipment experience.
  • Support within the Department: Includes a charge nurse, resource nurse, surgeon support, educator, service line representative, and EPIC super-user.
  • Technology/Equipment: Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing system.
  • Orientation: Day 1 involves onboarding with educators and ANM, EPIC training, and login setup. Follow-up unit orientation occurs on days 2-3.
  • Additional Information: The facility operates 24/7; OR operates M-F from 0730-2300 with skeleton crew after 2300, and weekends from 0700-1700 with skeleton crew after 1700. On-call is required with a 30-minute response time. Parking is free.
