Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 2+ years of CVOR experience and a Compact or LA RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Operating Room department of a hospital setting
  • Handle 10-25 cases per day across 7 rooms
  • Day shift schedule (5x8 hours), 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Weekend rotation required, approximately 2 weekends per 6-week schedule
  • Call required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) required in hand upon consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
  • Experience with a variety of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, orthopedic, neurology, general surgery, urology, and cardiovascular procedures
  • Skilled in professional OR competencies such as cardiac monitoring, infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling, peripheral IV starts, universal protocol/time out procedures, and wound management
  • Experience with OR equipment including electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Steris systems

Additional Information

  • Provide perioperative nursing care across a range of surgical specialties and procedures
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring on-site presence during emergency events per facility policy
  • Green scrubs provided by the facility
  • Orientation held five days per week
  • First-time travelers will be considered as long as they have sufficient OR experience
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility
  • RTO must be established and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescindment
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel professional
