Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist in Milwaukee, WI. This position involves supporting a high-volume surgical department within a Level III Trauma Center, providing assistance for neuro, ENT, orthopedic, and general surgeries during day shifts. The role demands a proactive Certified Surgical Assistant with two or more years of experience, skilled in managing a diverse range of complex procedures.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Dayshift with variable start times between 5:30 am and 7:00 am; minimum of 40 hours per week, 8 hours per shift.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS and Surgical Assistant certifications from one of the following bodies: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA), or National Certification for Surgical Assistants (NCCSA). Must have at least 2 years of experience working in operating room settings.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting neuro/ENT procedures such as spine surgeries, cranial surgeries including tumor removals, ENT procedures like sinus surgery and neck dissections, orthopedic surgeries including fractures and joint replacements, and familiarity with navigation systems like Medtronic, Stryker, and Synaptive.
  • Additional Information: The candidate will support surgical teams with a variety of specialized equipment including Hanna and Jackson tables, Velys Robot, and positioning devices. Orientation lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 weeks, depending on the team and shift needs. Cross-training to support general and urology OR cases is required. On-call responsibilities include a 30-minute response time, with a scheduled eight-week call rotation primarily covering AM and PM shifts, including select weekend and holiday coverage as per staffing needs. Scrub attire and parking are provided, with amenities including campus cafes and free parking. No call rooms are available.
