Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Alexandria, Louisiana. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care in a fast-paced, supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and autonomy. The position requires trauma care experience and knowledge of DaVinci robotics, with a focus on trauma, orthopedics, neuro, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery, robotic procedures, and general surgery.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Dayshift, 8-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: 1 year of experience; ACLS, BLS certifications; located within 50 miles of Alexandria, LA.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma, neuro, orthopedic, robotic procedures, and familiarity with DaVinci robotic surgery.
- Unit Information:
- Number of beds: 9 operating rooms, including a hybrid OR and a urology suite.
- Staff: 20 registered nurses, 13 surgical technologists or scrub personnel, 3 first assists.
- Patient ratio: 1:1.
- Equipment: DaVinci XI, Neptunes, Bovie, neuro towers, Midas Rex drills, laparoscopic towers.
- EMR: Meditech.
- On-Call Requirement: Six weekday call shifts (first, second, third); two 24-hour weekend call shifts per month.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to endoscopy for colonoscopy or EGD procedures.
- Typical Procedures: Trauma, orthopedic, neuro, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, ENT, OMFS, robotic surgery, general surgery.
- Additional Information: The unit offers a family-oriented, fast-paced, and supportive environment with new equipment, experienced staff, and flexible scheduling options.
