Job Summary
Operating Room (First Assistant) in Maine. This position involves providing surgical first-assist support for congenital cardiac procedures. The RNFA collaborates with the surgical team, utilizing advanced technical skills in congenital cardiac surgeries to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The role requires working closely with surgeons in a dynamic operating room environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Maine; completion of an accredited RNFA program; CNOR certification (preferred); Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications; minimum of 3-5 years of operating room experience, including at least 1-2 years in cardiac surgery; travel experience preferred.
- Skills and competencies include proficiency in first-assist techniques and sterile field management, strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
- Additional Information: The RNFA will serve as the first assist during congenital cardiac surgeries, support preoperative assessments, and assist with postoperative care including wound management and patient education. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential, as is mentoring and educating nursing staff on congenital cardiac procedures and assistive techniques.
