Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of oncology or med/surg oncology experience.

Details

  • Night shift position (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Inpatient Medical Oncology unit caring for solid tumor patients (lung, breast, pancreatic)
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5, with 1:3 for BMT patients on all shifts
  • Average patient stay of 3-5 days
  • Performs IV starts, accesses ports and central lines, and provides trach care (no ventilator management)
  • Uses CAD pumps for medication administration
  • Utilizes EPIC charting system
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Will float within service line to meet facility needs
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence for compact)
  • Pending license accepted at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology or medical-surgical oncology experience required
  • BMT experience not required
  • Skills in IV therapy/infusions, port and central line access and management, and administration of blood products
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam demonstrating interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • Phlebotomy skills required
  • Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or will be required to shave

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to medical oncology patients including those with solid tumors (lung, breast, pancreatic) and BMT/leukemia/bone cancer diagnoses
  • Administer chemotherapy and radiation-related post-treatment care as certified and assigned
  • Work within a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital that is a Level I Trauma Center
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Returning travelers must have at least an 18-month gap with a required 3-month break in service
