Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN for an outpatient clinic role requiring prior oncology experience and Epic Ambulatory proficiency.

Details

  • Outpatient oncology clinic setting within a Medical Oncology/Hematology department
  • Patient population includes adults 18+ with medical oncology, hematology, and BMT (pre- and post-transplant) diagnoses
  • Approximately 15-25 patients seen per day with CA support
  • Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system
  • Schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, 0700-1730, with day off based on clinic needs
  • No weekends, no call, and no major holidays required, though minor holidays when the clinic is open will be scheduled
  • Floating primarily occurs among different physicians within Medical Oncology, with occasional floating to other clinics outside Medical Oncology

Requirements

  • Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) currently in hand
  • BLS certification required; ONS and OCN certifications preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in Oncology
  • Prior outpatient clinic experience required
  • Epic Ambulatory experience required
  • Experience with rooming patients, vital signs, review of systems, medication reconciliation, and weight checks
  • Experience obtaining orders and processing patients for infusions
  • Experience serving as first assist and chaperoning providers during exams and procedures

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include chart checks, procedure set-up, and review of referrals
  • Support team includes department leadership, CA staff, charge nurse, and team lead resources
  • On-site lab available, with chemo nurses handling port access and blood draws
  • Physician team consists of 7 Medical Oncologists, each typically supported by an ARNP
  • Department orientation typically lasts 5 days, subject to change based on skillset and comfort level
  • Navy blue scrubs required for nursing staff
  • Free parking available
  • Must have completed at least one 13-week travel assignment; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Time off requests of up to 7 days (excluding holidays) may be approved if the traveler is willing to extend the contract accordingly
