Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Oncology RN for an inpatient telemetry oncology unit requiring MA licensure and chemotherapy administration experience.

Details

• Inpatient oncology unit with telemetry capabilities
• Patient population includes mixed solid tumor, hematologic malignancy, BMT, and cellular therapy cases
• Primary diagnoses include leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and various solid tumors, including clinical trial patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Uses telemetry monitoring, PCA pumps, blood warmers, bladder scanners, and Baxter pumps
• Shift options include nights (7p-7:30a) or days, 3x12 hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 13-week contract length

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• BSN required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must be able to administer chemotherapy and start IVs
• Experience with oncology nursing including solid tumor, hematologic malignancy, BMT, and cellular therapies required
• Experience with central line and PICC line care, port access/management, and infusion pump management required
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies including sepsis, anaphylaxis, and hemorrhage required
• Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC), OCN, and PALS preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

Additional Information

• Administer chemotherapy via multiple routes including IV push, continuous infusion, and oral administration
• Provide symptom management for nausea, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status
• Coordinate psychosocial care including patient/family education and hospice support where applicable
• Manage bone marrow transplant and CAR-T therapy patients, including monitoring for graft-versus-host disease
• Perform wound care, central line care, and neutropenic precautions as needed
