Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Oncology position on night shift requiring chemotherapy certification and TX or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Surgical Oncology unit of a hospital environment
  • 30-bed unit staffed with approximately 48 nurses, PCTs, and HUCs
  • Day and night shifts each staffed with 1 CNC, 5-6 RNs, and 2 PCTs
  • Patient ratios of approximately 1:5 to 1:6
  • Uses equipment including Baxter pumps, SCD machines, MobiLab, and glucometers
  • EMR system is Meditech
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month required
  • Floating required to Medical Oncology and Med/Surg units

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) certification required for all RNs working in Oncology
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Surgical Oncology or related specialty required
  • No certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment start
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • IV insertion and chemotherapy administration skills preferred
  • Strong communication and compassion/empathy skills required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care including medication administration, chest tube management, NGT management, and Foley catheter management
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must adhere to unit attendance policy
  • Royal blue scrub attire required
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
