Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an Infusion and Med Oncology outpatient clinic requiring current chemo certification and Epic Ambulatory experience.

Details

  • Outpatient infusion clinic with 32 chairs within the Cancer Care Institute
  • Medical oncology and chemotherapy infusion patient population including solid tumor, GYN, breast, and hematology cancer types
  • Caseload of 5-8 patients per day, with a maximum of 3-4 patients at a time
  • 10-hour day shifts, alternating between 0800-1630 and 0830-1700
  • No weekends, no call, and no major holiday coverage required (minor holidays worked if clinic is open)
  • Floating required to other clinics within the Cancer Care Institute as needed
  • Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system and Omnicell for medication dispensing

Requirements

  • Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS chemo certification required
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of current outpatient infusion oncology experience
  • Broad oncology experience across multiple cancer types required; highly specialized experience (e.g., BMT) alone is not a sufficient match
  • 1+ year of Epic Ambulatory experience required
  • Comfortable with chemotherapy infusion administration, chart checks, rooming patients, vital signs, weight checks, review of systems, and medication reconciliation

  • Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy infusions, patient education, symptom management, and self-assigning patients to maintain equitable team workload
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills required, including coordinating with charge nurse on communications and reactions
  • Support available on-site from department leadership, charge nurse, pharmacy, resource nurse, scheduler, physicians, CNPs, and rapid response/code team
  • Departmental orientation typically lasts 3-5 days, subject to change based on skillset
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers not accepted; candidates must have completed at least two 13-week travel assignments
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
  • Former permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Facility is known to be very traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
