Unit Information
This position is located in an Oncology ICU with a total of 10 beds dedicated to critically ill patients.
General Information
- Staffing: Day shift includes 1 charge nurse and registered nurses based on census. Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse and registered nurses according to census. No technicians are present on either shift.
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Equipment: Ventilators, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), arterial lines, BiPAP machines, Flow-trac, IV pumps.
- Electronic Medical Records System: Meditech
Typical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients.
- Perform total care responsibilities which include turning patients, titrating medications, conducting dressing changes, and tracheostomy care.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong ICU experience with the ability to titrate intravenous drips and care for patients on ventilators.
- Experience with patients requiring BiPAP.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
- Background in transplant nursing (kidney, pancreas, liver).
Personality Fit
The ideal candidate will exhibit compassion, collaborate effectively with a team, and establish strong rapport with physicians.
Required Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Additional Details
- Floating areas include all ICUs, Progressive Care Units (PCU), and Bone Marrow Transplant units.
- Dress code comprises blue scrubs.
- Standard reporting times are at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM, with clocking in/out for lunch.
- Weekend shifts are part of a rotating schedule.
