Job Summary
The Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive patient-centered care within an outpatient oncology setting. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care, including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, ensuring compliance with state regulations and hospital policies. The RN promotes a supportive environment for patients and families, emphasizing safety, education, and health promotion.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week, working every other weekend.
- Required Qualifications: Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months to three (3) years; management experience of zero (0) to three (3) years; five (5) or more years of direct experience; collaboration; communication (verbal and written); judgment/critical thinking; organizational understanding; planning (organizing, time management); problem solving; quality; reliability; safety and risk management; current NYS RN license; BLS certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross); unit-specific requirements listed in the compliance matrix.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; professional certification in a related nursing specialty; relevant skills certification such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC as required by assigned unit.
- Additional Information: The unit requires travelers who are able to hang chemotherapy from day 1. The RN will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy, participating in staff education, and supporting quality improvement initiatives. The role involves active engagement in professional development and adherence to all practice standards.
