Prefer candidate who has 1-2 years of experience in a rural health setting but willing to look at new grads.
Requirements: Licensed with the State of Nebraska as an Occupational Therapist and Certified to administer Electrotherapeutic Agents, Deep Thermal Agents, and Superficial Thermal Agents. Active BLS issued through American Heart Association.
Shift: 8:00AM-5:00PM, with an hour lunch. Will work a weekend day once per month.
Evaluates, plans, coordinates, administers, and supervises Occupational Therapy treatments to restore functional abilities, relieve pain, and prevent or minimize disability in a timely and efficient capacity.
1. Performs and ensures safe, knowledgeable, age-specific patient care through the evaluation and assessment, treatment planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of appropriate patient specific occupational therapy services.
a. OT evaluates, plans, coordinates, administers and supervises OT treatments to restore functional abilities, relieve pain and prevent or minimize disabilities in a timely and efficient capacity following the original plan of care.
b. Patients are making progress and meeting their goals.
c. Provide services within and supervise COTAs as outlined in professional practice act and/or Medicare guidelines, whichever is most conservative as measured through quality assurance measures and peer review.
d. Safely and accurately provide OT services, using client-centered care and evidence-based practice, to clientele including, but not limited to: therapeutic exercise, splinting, modalities, and self-care training.
e. Competent in treating all age groups as demonstrated by age-specific competency testing.
2. Completes patient care documentation per hospital and professional governing bodies.
a. Completes all documentation including charges correctly (per policy) prior to leaving work for the day 85% of the time and have all documentation completely finished within 24 hours.
b. Completes all evaluations, screens, DC, re-evaluations, daily notes, supervisory visits, co-signatures, MC forms and any other required paperwork as per policy (concise, thorough, objective, accurate, include goals, problems, history, changes in status).
c. Maintains up to date soft files on all of site clientele.
3. Provides education to and communicates with patient/family, other team members, employees, caregivers, and other individuals within the patient realm of care.
4. Collaborates with other professionals appropriately, including but not limited to, physical therapy, speech therapy, technicians, nursing, and physicians.
Other Job Functions:
1. Participate in and on departmental wide teams and programs to ensure the highest quality and efficient delivery of quality care. To include: department chart reviews, policy and procedure manuals, quality assurance issues, and alerting technicians on needed supplies.
a. Contributes to departmental quality assurance projects and/or hospital quality teams, which result in positive financial performance, higher customer satisfaction, and accomplish organizational goals.
b. Document usage of Department Policy and Procedure Manuals as well as participate in yearly review of policy and procedure manuals.
c. Ensure that needed departmental supplies are ordered.
2. Provides supervision, assessments of, and aids in recruitment of Occupational Therapist Assistants and OT students.
a. Responds to requests for assistance in recruitment in a timely and helpful manner.
b. Provides supervision as outlined by the OT practice act.
c. Performs assessments of COTAs and student interns in OT within allowable time frames as outlined in policy and procedure manual.
3. Assists in maintaining a safe, efficient, and orderly work environment.
a. Participates in departmental wide weekly cleaning.
b. Ensures that equipment is safe, easily accessible to all members and utilized efficiently.
4. Perform value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.
a. Participation in community events, public speaking, positive public relations activities and/or publicity. (Such as OT month)
b. Participation in program development and/or responding to community requests.
c. Assists in departmental activities that are focused on providing value-added services to our customers; departmental weekly cleaning, professional months, visiting referral sources and establishing and maintaining professional and beneficial relationships with referral sources.
5. Demonstrates the willingness to further education benefiting the workplace.
a. Attends continuing education courses that will have a positive affect on the work place and provides in-services to rehab staff.

7. Provides supervision of Swing Bed activities
8. Attends over 80% of Rehab department meetings as documented in minutes
9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
