Key Responsibilities
Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient and family goals
Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, and collaborate with other team members to provide comprehensive patient care
Coordinate and document discharge planning, including patient and family education, equipment recommendations, and placement arrangements
Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with department policies and timelines
Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, OT and COTA students, and assist with new staff orientation
Promote patient and employee safety across all key areas including safe patient handling, infection control, and fall prevention
Required Qualifications
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Texas
Ability to assess patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and administer appropriate evaluation procedures
Experience with or ability to supervise COTAs and OT students
Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete progress notes and evaluations within defined timeframes
Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality improvement standards
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in a rehabilitation or post-acute care setting
Flexibility to work an alternate schedule that includes one to two weekend days
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members at varying levels of understanding
