Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited educational program
  • Active Mississippi State Occupational Therapy license required to start the position
  • BLS Certification may be required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience working in acute care inpatient settings. Experience with inpatient, outpatient, swing bed, and skilled nursing populations preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records. Experience with NetHealth for Rehab and Cerner is preferred
  • Ability to manage flexible day shift assignments across multiple care areas within a hospital setting

Position Overview

This Occupational Therapist will provide assessment and treatment across inpatient and outpatient settings within a hospital. Caseloads include acute care, swing bed, outpatient therapy, and skilled nursing patients. Therapists will use evidence-based practice guidelines and contribute to clinical outcome tracking. Clinical documentation will be completed in NetHealth Rehabilitation records, with limited orders or clarifications entered into Cerner as required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver skilled OT interventions to promote functional independence
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
  • Utilize outcome measures and participate in a national outcome database to benchmark and improve patient progress
  • Document services and outcomes in the appropriate EMR systems
  • Participate in continuing education and quality improvement activities
