Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities
Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships
Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients
Some computer skills
Description:
Under general supervision, performs professional Occupational Therapy activities.
Activities consist of planning, evaluating, establishing, and implementing individual and group treatment activities under the direction of a physician.
Interpret a physician’s referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure.
Evaluate patients in various areas such as independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills, and psychosocial skills.
Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long-term goals, frequency, and duration of treatment.
Assist patients in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, and joint protection techniques.
Inform patients and their families about goals and progress.
Assist with discharge planning by ordering necessary equipment and instructing patients on the home therapy plan.
May supervise students.
Performs other duties as assigned.
