License: Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant License. Certifications: - Must-Have: - Occupational Therapy Assistant knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs. - Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations. - Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. - Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Commitment to unlocking the full potential of our most vulnerable seniors. Description: The Occupational Therapist Assistant, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, assists with performing tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative Occupational Therapy services to participants. Services are provided both at the center and in participants' homes. The goal is to maximize participant independence and safety, enhancing the performance of activities of daily living (ADLs). The Occupational Therapist Assistant works with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist. Key responsibilities include administering treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist. Additionally, they assist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing. Coordination with other members of the rehabilitation team is essential to implement activities and programs based on individual treatment plans. Responsibilities also include scheduling participants' treatment, clinical visits, and documentation of Occupational Therapy interventions. The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides training and instructions to staff, participants, and caregivers/families in the use and care of therapeutic equipment. They remain alert to pertinent input from team members, participants, and caregivers and update the Occupational Therapist promptly regarding any changes in participants' condition or functional status. Participation in end-of-life care coordination and support under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist may also be required. The role requires protecting privacy and maintaining confidentiality of all procedures and information related to team members, participants, and families. The Occupational Therapist Assistant follows all policies and procedures and participates in any required quality improvement activities and staff training. Regular communication with supervisors and the team regarding workload and priorities is necessary. Flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve is essential. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
