Key Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services to adult and geriatric patients in an acute care hospital setting with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Perform assessment and reassessment of acutely ill patients presenting with a variety of diagnoses
• Treat patients with conditions including CVA rehabilitation, dementia/Alzheimer's, spinal cord injury, upper-extremity conditions, hip fractures/total hip replacements, and knee injuries/total knee replacements
• Conduct adult adaptive equipment assessments and cognitive assessments
• Perform lifting and patient transfers as required by patient care needs
• Provide patient and family education; document using PowerChart/Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Active Maryland OT state license or Compact license required at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 3 years of acute care hospital experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Experience treating acutely ill patients with a variety of diagnoses in an acute hospital setting
• Experience with lifting, patient transfers, adaptive equipment assessment, and cognitive assessment
• Willingness and ability to float within the hospital within scope of practice

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Familiarity with PowerChart/Cerner charting system
• Experience with patient and family education in a hospital environment
