Description

American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an acute care hospital unit requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS certification.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within a Level 1 Trauma facility, including rehab
  • Inpatient occupational therapy for patients with orthopedic, neurological, and general medical disorders
  • 21-bed unit with average caseload of 4-5 patients per day, varying by volume
  • Primary schedule Monday-Friday approximately 7:30 am-4:00 pm with 1-2 weekends per month, which may include both days
  • No call required
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • Access to specialized equipment including UE Bioness and Dynavision

Requirements

  • Active OT license required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Acute care experience with medically complex and unstable patients preferred
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal vital signs and medical equipment used in patient monitoring
  • Strong critical thinking and discharge planning skills
  • Ability to manage high volume, dynamic caseloads with frequent rescheduling

Additional Information

  • Provide individualized evaluations, treatment interventions, and documentation including FIMs
  • Participate in team conferences and interdisciplinary communication for discharge planning and patient safety
  • May supervise certified occupational therapy assistants, aides, and students
  • Department-specific orientation provided over 1-2 days for computer documentation and additional training over several days
  • Dress code is business casual (no jeans) or polo in designated colors (Ceil Blue, Khaki, Gray, Chocolate Brown)
  • All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • Local candidates accepted within an 80-mile radius at a reduced travel rate
  • Clinicians with prior employment at this health system must disclose it for eligibility review
