Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift acute care position requiring BLS, NRP certification, and at least 1 year of L&D experience.

Details

  • Acute care Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit with 9 LDR rooms, 2 OR suites, 1 PACU, 6 triage rooms, and an 18-bed antepartum unit
  • 36 private postpartum rooms with average daily census of 18 adults and 14 infants
  • Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines with a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Cares for postpartum mothers and newborn infants
  • RNs required to titrate insulin or heparin drips per specific orders
  • Charge RN and House Supervisor available 24/7, with charge RN typically free of patient assignments
  • PCTs available to assist primarily with adult patients
  • Labor hospitalists in house 24/7 and newborn hospitalists in house daily with NICU coverage at night
  • Respiratory therapy available for home CPAP/BiPAP setup assistance
  • House-wide telemetry monitored off-unit by tele techs using Philips monitors; RNs not required to interpret strips
  • EFM system and EMR is EPIC
  • 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling in 6-week blocks and possible block scheduling
  • Weekend rotation of every 3rd weekend (Fri/Sat nights, Sat/Sun days)
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Floating required within the Family Birthing Center, Behavioral Health, Women's Care Unit, and L&D for recovery or sitter duties (AWHONN monitor training may apply)
  • Unit orientation includes 2 full 12-hour shifts on OB Acute, 1 day in L&D, and 1 day in Women's Care Unit

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
  • BSN not required
  • Experience with required assessments and postpartum patient care needed
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Lactation education/support experience preferred
  • Level 2 Nursery experience a plus but not required
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as part of OSF's Drug-Free Campus policy

  • Provide direct care to postpartum mothers and newborn infants in a busy acute OB unit
  • Work alongside a 24/7 charge RN and house supervisor for support
  • Professional-looking scrubs of any color are acceptable
  • COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible for a local pay rate, though no radius restriction applies to eligibility
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this role
