Job Title: Wound Ostomy Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Ostomy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Experience: Minimum of 4 years clinical experience required License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California, in good standing Certifications: Wound and Ostomy Certification required Must-Have: CWON Certification or be in an accredited program or experiential pathway to obtain prior to start Description: Functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff for ostomy and continence disorders, chronic and acute wound care, and skin breakdown. Provides direct wound and ostomy care in various settings. Conducts patient and family teaching regarding wound and ostomy management both pre and post-operatively. Assists the healthcare team in evaluating skin and wound products, equipment, and education programs. Stays up-to-date with current skin care practices and shares advancements in wound care assessments. Assesses all patients with a pressure injury staged at three or above. Reviews all patients who develop a hospital-acquired pressure injury and meets reporting requirements. Evaluates overall needs and practices to eliminate hospital-acquired pressure injuries. Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal skills. Exhibits knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains strong job knowledge, patient counseling skills, and a sense of accountability in professional relationships. Shows ability to handle technology and equipment relevant to wound and ostomy care. Demonstrates innovation and ensures customer satisfaction.
