Position Summary

Provides specialized nursing care to medically complex patients in an acute care setting, working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams.

The Wound Care RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound, ostomy, and continence care throughout inpatient care areas. Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for wound management, including identification, assessment, treatment, prevention, and ongoing evaluation of skin integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and monitor wounds, pressure injuries, and other skin-integrity concerns.
• Provide specialized consultation for wound, ostomy, and continence-related issues.
• Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other medical staff.
• Consult on patients with draining wounds, fistulas, tubes, and altered skin integrity.
• Develop and implement appropriate wound care interventions and prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to provide current wound care recommendations and education.
• Conduct rounds on patients with wounds, pressure ulcers, and pressure injuries as needed.
• Provide wound care support across multiple inpatient units based on patient needs.
• Work autonomously within scope of practice while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes and quality of care.

Required Qualifications

• Experienced Wound Care RN — REQUIRED
• Active RN license in the state of practice — REQUIRED
• BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider — REQUIRED
• Relevant clinical nursing experience — Preferred
• BSN — Preferred
• Wound Care Certification — Preferred; candidates without certification should have a plan to obtain it within the required timeframe.

Facility-Specific Requirement

• BLS certification from an approved provider — REQUIRED

• This is a dedicated wound care role supporting patients across different inpatient units.
• The traveler will evaluate and manage patients based on identified wound care needs, including pressure injuries requiring assessment and intervention.
• No weekend requirement.
• Any scrub color is acceptable.
