General Comments:
This role is within a surgical/trauma ICU setting.
The unit consists of 20 beds.
Patient ratios are 1:2.
Daily staffing includes 10 RNs in the morning and evening shifts, with additional staff as needed for 1:1 patient care.
A supervisor, a Patient Care Technician, and a Healthcare Unit Coordinator are also part of the staff.
The unit is equipped with EVDs, Camino/bolts, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, GE Carescape bedside monitors, and GE ventilators.
Advanced equipment includes iCool machines, Blanketrol blankets, Bair Huggers, Prisma Max CRRT, Zoll devices, and Kangaroo feeding pumps.
Documentation is done through a digital system.
This position requires 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule.
Travelers may float to other ICU units or step-down units as needed.
Candidates should possess strong acute care ICU skills.
The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude and flexibility.
Procedures performed on the unit include intubation, extubation, chest tube placement, central line placement, A-line placement, and bronchoscopy.
Additional procedures may include endoscopy, proning, TPA administration, hypertonic medication administration, trach placement, EVD/bolt placement, and CRRT or hemodialysis.
