Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a 23-bed Neuro Telemetry unit serving patients with a variety of neurological, medical, surgical, and cardiovascular conditions including CVA, TIA, syncope, encephalopathy, altered mental status, brain mass, aspiration pneumonia, PEG tube complications, atherosclerosis, angina, and cardiac diagnostic or surgical procedures
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, collaborating with patient care techs and a charge nurse staffed on every shift
• Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry monitoring; house-wide monitor techs are responsible for reading and interpreting strips
• Manage patients on CPAP/BiPap and nasal cannula as needed; RNs are not required to manage ventilators
• Participate in self-scheduling while meeting every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday requirements; float to any unit in the hospital except OB, OR, or ED
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including producing a negative drug screen prior to assignment

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Neuro and telemetry nursing experience required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility will be subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients with cerebrovascular conditions, neurological procedures, or cardiac interventions
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems
• Experience working in a unit with patient care tech support and charge nurse leadership structures
