Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (0700–1930) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 on days
- Manage and care for patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy
- Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin as required
- Interpret EKG rhythms independently; collaborate with monitor techs who use Philips telemetry monitoring systems
- Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen patients), and heated high flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
- Float to other general medical units as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
- All core/basic nursing skills required
- Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
- Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification recommended
- Prior experience in telemetry, cardiac, or thoracic nursing
- Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
- Previous experience at this health system (may affect orientation length)
