Travel Nurse RN - Telemetry in Peoria, IL

Manage and care for patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy. Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen patients), and heated high flow oxygen in applicable circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 on days
• Manage and care for patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin as required
• Interpret EKG rhythms independently; collaborate with monitor techs who use Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen patients), and heated high flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Float to other general medical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
• All core/basic nursing skills required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification recommended
• Prior experience in telemetry, cardiac, or thoracic nursing
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Previous experience at this health system (may affect orientation length)
