    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

    Location

    Peoria, IL | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases
    • Perform continuous EKG monitoring, independently read and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring systems alongside monitor technicians
    • Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
    • Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
    • Maintain night shift nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6, collaborating with PCTs and a 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor
    • Float to other general medical units as needed
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac telemetry monitoring
    • Experience with medication titration, including vasoactive and cardiac drips
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
    • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification (recommended)
    • Prior experience in a cardio thoracic, telemetry, or step-down unit setting
    • Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac/thoracic patient populations
    • Previous experience at a comparable acute care facility
