Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness using the nursing process
Administer and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin in accordance with scope of practice and facility policies
Monitor and manage telemetry patients including cardiac rule-out, CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac cath patients, and alcohol detox patients
Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team
Manage patients with chest tubes, PICC lines, ports, JP drains, and occasional trachs; monitor patients on chronic BiPAP/CPAP
Act as a patient safety advocate through participation in ongoing quality improvement and adherence to infection control and universal precaution standards
Required Qualifications
Current RN license in state of practice or covered under a compact license
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to direct patient care
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
NIH Stroke Certification required
Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)
Minimum 1 year of RN experience; prior experience with pre/post cardiac cath patients required
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
CCRN or PCCN certification
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Completion of a Critical Care Course
