Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team
- Safely administer medications, including cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, and Heparin, with the ability to titrate as needed
- Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments, including communication with family members and caregivers
- Monitor and manage telemetry patients including cardiac rule-out cases, CHF exacerbations, pre/post cardiac catheterization patients, and alcohol detox patients
- Anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions using evidence-based clinical judgment and the nursing process
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and advocate for patient safety throughout the unit
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to direct patient care
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
- NIH Stroke Certification required
- Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization patients strongly preferred
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing cardiac drip titration in a telemetry or stepdown setting
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- CCRN or PCCN certification preferred
- Experience with PICC lines, ports, JP drains, and stable chest tubes
