    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a) | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct nursing care to ED hold patients awaiting inpatient bed placement, with a primary focus on telemetry and medical/surgical patients
    • Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; no monitor technician is available on unit
    • Titrate and adjust cardiac drips (including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone) per physician orders and established parameters
    • Assist with ED patient support tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration as needed; will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments
    • Float to med/surg, telemetry, overflow units, and other campus ED departments as needed
    • Participate in weekend rotation (expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday rotation with permanent staff
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN licensure in good standing
    • BLS certification required
    • ACLS certification required
    • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts); failure results in ineligibility for a 6-month period
    • Must pass a Simulation Lab evaluation on day one of orientation; failure results in ineligibility for a 6-month period
    • Strong cardiac telemetry background with the ability to titrate and wean cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Minimum of 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience preferred
    • Familiarity with common titratable drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
    • Experience working with ED hold or overflow patient populations
