Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7PM–7AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiovascular telemetry unit with a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a 32-bed setting
- Monitor and interpret EKGs using centralized telemetry; must be proficient in dysrhythmia recognition
- Manage and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and Dobutamine (titration down only)
- Care for post-cath lab, post-vascular procedure, and day-2 CABG patients as well as general telemetry patients (ages 15 and older)
- Maintain sterile field technique; a pass/fail sterile field exam is administered on day one of orientation
- Float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (or compact equivalent) in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry RN experience (within the past 6 months)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed within 24–48 hours prior to position acceptance (maximum 2 attempts)
- Ability to independently interpret EKGs and manage centralized telemetry monitoring
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for post-cardiac procedure patients including post-cath lab and post-CABG populations
- Familiarity with titrating cardiac and vasoactive drip medications in a monitored setting
- Prior charge nurse experience in a telemetry or step-down environment
