Job Summary
Join a dedicated team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry/Progressive Care at Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale, Illinois. This 13-week contract assignment offers an opportunity to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population with cardiac and respiratory conditions within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The unit maintains a 4:1 patient ratio, allowing for focused patient care. Acuity levels fluctuate, providing a dynamic clinical experience where your skills in patient assessment and critical thinking will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients comprehensively to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons regarding care and treatment.
- Utilize nursing clinical judgment to recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition.
- Contribute to a healthy workplace by effectively managing conflict through professional communication skills.
- Ensure compliance with Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care.
- Actively participate in continuing education and professional development.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records in accordance with facility standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
- Ability to work in Carbondale, Illinois.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Day Shift (AM)
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Days per Week: 3 days per week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Required
- On-Call: No on-call requirements
- Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available.
- Scheduling: While block schedules cannot be guaranteed, efforts will be made to accommodate preferred scheduling requests.

Licensing Requirements
- Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (CPR).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
