Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients and applies the nursing process. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Consults with specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes for optimal patient care. Performs comprehensive assessments and re-assessments in accordance with policy. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories and responses. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity while maintaining confidentiality. Functions as a patient advocate and involves them in the formation of a mutually agreed upon plan of care. Participates in the development and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs and participation in meetings. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility and organization while functioning under stressful situations. Meets departmental specific competencies and performs other related duties as assigned.
