Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR required, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: - Cardiac Monitoring - Patient Assessment - Care of Patients Pre/Post CABG - Care of Patients Pre/Post Interventional Cardiac Procedures - Sheath Maintenance and Removal Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process, within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients and applies the nursing process. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes. Consults with specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes for optimal patient care. Performs comprehensive assessments and re-assessments in accordance with policy. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories and responses. Treats patients and families with respect and dignity while maintaining confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate and involves them in the formation of a mutually agreed upon plan of care. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates their effectiveness. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care and allocates work as necessary. Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity. Participates in the development and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs and participation in meetings. Maintains operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate stock of supplies. Demonstrates flexibility and organization while functioning under stressful situations. Meets departmental specific competencies and performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
