Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Travel Telemetry / Med-Surg RN for a float pool assignment based at St. John’s Regional Medical Center (Oxnard, CA) with requirement to float to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital (Camarillo, CA – 9 miles away). This fast-paced, high-acuity role requires a flexible, compassionate clinician comfortable with primary nursing care and non-titrating cardiac drips.

Key Details

  • Shifts: 12-Hour Shifts (Days or Nights available; no block scheduling)
  • Weekends/Holidays: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; 1 major & 1 minor holiday
  • Scrubs: Navy Blue
  • EMR: Cerner

Unit & Clinical Overview

  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 (Telemetry) | 1:5 (Med-Surg)
  • Facility Floating: St. John's Regional (2North, 3North, 2South, ER holds) & St. John's Pleasant Valley (ACU - Tele/MS)
  • Common Patient Types: High-acuity CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, post-cath lab, post-surgical, and ortho
  • Drips: Non-titrating Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin
  • Support: 24/7 RT and Pharmacy, dedicated Charge Nurse, and unit Monitor Techs (RNs must read/sign telemetry strips)

Requirements

  • Experience: 2–3 years of Telemetry/Med-Surg experience (travel experience preferred)
  • Certifications: Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Skills: Proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation and non-titrating drip management (chest tube experience preferred)
  • Qualities: Highly adaptable, strong primary care nursing mindset, positive attitude, and compassion
