Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)

Shift Length: 12 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with specialized experience in Telemetry and a strong background in patient care. The nurse will work in a float pool across multiple locations, providing critical support in various units, including Emergency Department (ED), Med/Surg, and Telemetry. This role requires flexibility as the RN will be the first to float among units based on patient care needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients, including monitoring telemetry and performing assessments.
  • Titrate medications and manage drips such as cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin.
  • Assist in the care of post-operative, orthopedic, neuro, medical, and oncology patients.
  • Respond to and manage emergency situations, including stroke and cardiac events.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in unit activities and support the charge nurse as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Telemetry nursing required.
  • Previous travel nursing experience is essential.
  • Current certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC).
  • Familiarity with titratable medications and the ability to independently interpret telemetry readings.
  • Experience with ED holds is preferred.

Nurse-Patient Ratios

  • ED: 1:4
  • Med/Surg: 1:5

Work Environment

The float pool operates across multiple locations within the region, providing an opportunity to work at various facilities. All locations ensure a safe environment with convenient parking. Orientation includes a meet-and-greet on the first day and three shifts of inpatient orientation.

Schedule Requirements

  • Rotating weekends required; every other weekend.
  • Potential holiday coverage as needed.
  • No self-scheduling; shifts are assigned via an app one hour before the start time.
  • Possible mid-shift floating based on unit needs, with notifications provided promptly.
