Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Ability to float between multiple units Description: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization within the past year. Travelers will be required to float throughout multiple hospitals as needed. Travelers should be prepared to cover the needs of the entire medical-surgical and telemetry division. Nurses may be assigned to float to various medical-surgical and telemetry units. All units are telemetry monitored. Ratios in all units typically allow RNs to care for 4-5 patients. RNs are required to titrate drips, with some drips titrated up to a maximum per guidelines. Common titratable and set rate drips include Insulin, Heparin, Nitro, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Cardizem. Charge RNs are present in each unit, with a House Supervisor available during designated hours. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) will also be present, caring for 8-11 patients. Telemetry is monitored remotely by telemetry technicians who measure and read strips. RNs are responsible for verifying that telemetry readings are accurate. The position involves taking breaks when offered; refusal of breaks is not permitted. Orientation will include training on various medical-surgical units, though no additional orientation to alternate units will be provided. Additional requirements include a willingness to float across all medical-surgical and telemetry divisions. Holidays are required, with 1-2 during the winter season. Call or standby requirements may apply, with up to 4 calls expected during the contract duration.
