Description:
Responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a telemetry setting.
Must be proficient in EKG interpretation and medication titration.
Common diagnoses include myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and various lung surgeries.
Experience with chest tubes and esophagectomy is preferred.
Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, primarily Cardizem and heparin.
Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7, with the charge nurse rarely taking patients.
Patient care technicians are present to assist with care.
For respiratory equipment, nurses will troubleshoot CPAP and BiPAP as needed.
Registered Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, and weekend and holiday requirements are part of the position.
Floating to other general medical units may be required.
Scrub color is flexible, avoiding children or cartoon prints.
Orientation is provided and tailored based on previous experience.
