The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient- and family-centered care. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Job Responsibilities include: Assessment: Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrate the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care. Review and revise the plan as indicated. Collaborate with patient, family, and interdisciplinary services. Utilize resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitor and document the response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient and family needs. Ensure education is appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Function as a mentor or preceptor. Demonstrate, encourage, and facilitate teamwork. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement. Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implement practice changes. Comply with regulatory standards and participate in the Practice Governance model.
