A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit.
The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
Supervision of licensed and non-licensed staff members is also a key responsibility.
The RN applies the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care.
Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Educational and professional experiences are applied in the delivery of quality care and mentoring of staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments according to policy or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support patient and family needs.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.
