Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in Telemetry demonstrates competency in nursing practice within a clinical setting, providing both routine and complex care. This role involves managing clinical situations independently while being aware of relevant aspects and contingencies. The nurse will focus on long-range care goals and effectively delegate and assign tasks to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Meet the expectations of relevant nursing competencies, including leadership roles.
• Provide nursing care that aligns with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to their level of care.
• Administer medications and treatments as per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication administration, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and caregivers, identifying issues and resources for additional support.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • BLS certification via AHA required.
  • ACLS certification via AHA required.
  • RN License in the state of employment or compact required.

Position Requirements

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientations within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with competency validations completed as part of the onboarding process.
• Participation in residency programs or specific orientation for newly licensed RNs may be required.
• Completion of annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, requiring every other weekend availability.

Nurse/Patient Ratio

The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5:1 to 6:1, depending on staffing availability.

EMR System

The electronic medical record system used is Epic.

Dress Code

The required dress code is ceil blue scrubs.
