The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a practice governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Key Responsibilities: - Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition, demonstrating the ability to make sound independent decisions. - Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care, reviewing and revising it as indicated. - Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services, utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. - Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. - Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs during their stay and at discharge. - Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. - Functions as a mentor/preceptor and encourages teamwork. - Identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. - Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes. - Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the practice governance model.
