Summary:

The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care tailored to the age and specific needs of the patient population served. This role ensures the provision of high-quality, efficient, and safe care in alignment with established standards. The Registered Nurse embodies the mission and goals of the unit and organization while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Adhere to the relevant competencies, including Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conduct initial assessments and prioritize care based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Systematically re-assess patients to identify progress and trends necessitating intervention.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in a timely manner according to Nursing Standards of Care.
• Make nursing decisions based on factual interpretations and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying care plans as necessary.
• Engage in health education and discharge planning with patients and their significant others.
• Implement and document interventions that align with patient needs promptly.
• Evaluate and adjust care plans based on ongoing assessments.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures.

Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current knowledge and skills relevant to the age and type of patient population served.
• Familiarity with and sensitivity to patients' rights in care delivery.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, considering the developmental age of patients.

Experience

• Newly hired nurses with two or fewer years of experience will begin at CN I status. Consideration for higher clinical ladder levels may apply based on prior relevant experience, national professional nursing certification, and additional nursing education (B.S.N. and MSN).

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
