Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 5 years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse - Required travel experience, at least 1+ year - Proficiency with EPIC preferred Description: Drivers license required with submission. Individual unit requirements apply. Nurses are expected to have an understanding of basic dysrhythmia and verify tele strip interpretation. Unit has 20 beds, all private rooms. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for telemetry patients and 1:3-4 for stepdown patients. Average number of patients seen or admitted varies significantly, from 1-2 to 10. Common patient types include telemetry, post-catheterization, and medical/surgical patients with telemetry monitoring needs. Nurses do place IVs and draw labs from central lines only if ordered. The unit is staffed with 2 Patient Care Technicians for 20 beds. Patient Care Technicians assist with ambulating patients, vital signs, and documentation. There is a designated charge nurse who supports the unit. Telemetry monitoring is facilitated with both hardwired and portable monitors. Pharmacy support is available, and nurses may reconstitute antibiotics. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 on-site. There is at least one covering hospitalist available at all times. Nurses will be engaged in a self-scheduling process based on unit needs. Every other weekend and rotating holidays are required. Nurses are responsible for wearing navy blue scrubs. Travelers may be asked to precept or assume charge duties depending on comfort level. Cancellation policies allow for a limited number of missed shifts within the assignment. Charting is conducted through an electronic system. No on-call duty is required for this unit. Floating may occur to a comparable unit as needed.
