The emphasis is on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
The RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care is fundamental.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Educational and professional experiences are applied in the delivery of quality care.
The RN also mentors and precepts staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor and preceptor.
Demonstrates and encourages teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts.
Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in the Practice Governance model.
