HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Skills required cardiac gtts (Primacor, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine), heparin, lasix and insulin gtt.
  • Chest tube, traches, telemetry reading, wound care
  • Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other
  • No block scheduling
  • Overtime: None unless approved by manager
  • Holiday Expectations: 1 summer and 1 winter

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

  • Patient Ratios: RN: Days/PMs (0700-2330) - 1:4-5, Overnight (2300-0700) 1:6-8
  • Tech: Day - 1:6; Night - 1:7
  • Support on the Unit: Charge nurse, has 2-3 patients on days, full assignment on nights
  • Unit secretary, 24/7
  • Hospitalist, 24/7
  • RT, 24/7
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech
  • Phlebotomy to assist with peripheral blood draws
  • Orientation: at least one shift to learn flow
  • Holiday Requirements: One per contract
  • Must document pain level, before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication order i.e. if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. The RN must call for an order if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8.
