Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Medical-Surgical General Surgery – North Carolina
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts; 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; Day shift 1:6 ratio, Night shift 1:7 ratio
Highlights:
- 44-bed acute care medical-surgical unit specializing in general surgery, urology, and bowel procedures
- Manage complex surgical patients post-operatively including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, bowel resections, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, and hernia repairs
- Telemetry monitoring with comprehensive equipment including PCA pumps, wound vacs, TPN, tube feeds, and various drain management
- EMR: Cerner
- Collaborative team environment with charge nurse, CNAs, unit secretary, and multidisciplinary providers
- Float to other medical-surgical units as needed
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license
- Current BLS and Telemetry certifications required
- Strong competency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
- Experience managing 6-7 patients per shift in an acute care setting
- Urology and bowel/colorectal patient care experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with surgical drains (JP, biliary, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI), ostomy care (colostomies and urostomies), wound vacs, PCA pumps, TPN administration, tube feeds, and heparin drips
