Description:
This position focuses on providing care in a telemetry unit.
The unit has a total of 32 beds.
Registered Nurses must be able to interpret EKGs.
Patients typically include those recovering from catheter lab procedures, vascular procedures, and day 2 CABG patients.
The common medications administered include Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine, which are titrated down only.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4.
There is a charge nurse present, who does not have a patient assignment, alongside a clinical supervisor in a management role.
Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1 for every 16 patients.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Shifts are 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM.
Floating is to similar or lower acuity units.
Common diagnoses involve telemetry-related issues, with no pediatrics handled in the unit.
Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy services are available 24/7.
The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during the 13-week assignment.
