Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This fast-paced unit specializes in providing care for cardiac and stroke patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a high patient turnover effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre and post-procedure care for cardiac patients, including those undergoing pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization.
• Monitor and manage patients on various cardiac drips, including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
• Conduct assessments for all new CVA and TIA patients.
• Ensure patient stability with supportive interventions such as opti-flow and BIPAP, when needed.
• Collaborate with a team lead to support admissions and discharges.
• Work efficiently to manage 6-patient assignments within a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar challenging and busy unit.
• Willingness to accept first-time travelers.
• Required skills include IV start, telemetry, and cardiac patient management.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.

Work Schedule

• 36 hours per week with the potential for 12-hour night shifts.
• Every other weekend, along with additional specified weekdays within a 6-week period.
• Self-scheduling options available, with oversight to maintain balance within the team.

Unit Specifics

This unit manages stable patients requiring telemetry and pulse ox monitoring. Responsibilities may include the safe titration of drips and the use of high-flow oxygen, non-rebreather masks, and BIPAP therapy under specific conditions. A team lead will assist in managing admissions and discharges to enhance workflow.

Orientation & Attire

• Unit orientation consists of a 36-hour training period in the first week.
• Uniform standards include navy blue or white scrubs, with specific guidelines regarding jackets and footwear.
