About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Telemetry to join a healthcare team in Lakewood, Washington for a 13-week contract assignment. This opportunity is ideal for a confident telemetry nurse who can provide high-quality patient care while closely monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding quickly to changes in patient condition.
As a Telemetry RN, you will care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, medical-surgical, and other complex conditions while working collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to telemetry patients throughout the shift.
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, and other clinical indicators.
- Continuously monitor telemetry and recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms or changes in patient status.
- Report significant rhythm changes and clinical concerns promptly to the appropriate healthcare providers.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments according to orders and facility protocols.
- Monitor patients receiving anticoagulants, cardiac medications, and other high-alert medications.
- Manage IV lines, central lines, drains, catheters, and other clinical equipment as applicable.
- Provide care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, vascular, and complex medical conditions.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning.
- Provide post-operative care, wound care, pain management, and patient monitoring as required.
- Recognize signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Participate in rapid response and emergency situations according to facility protocols.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, safety, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Follow infection prevention, fall prevention, medication safety, and patient safety standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, pharmacists, CNAs, and other members of the care team.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with facility policies and applicable healthcare standards.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible to practice in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry or acute-care nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythm monitoring and telemetry interpretation.
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required based on facility requirements.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
- Experience with medication administration and IV therapy.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
- Willingness and ability to work night shift, 3×12 schedule.
