Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of experience as a Telemetry nurse - Cardiac drip experience - NIH stroke assessment experience - Post-cath recovery experience - Chest tube experience - Ability to read and document vital signs every 6 hours Description: The unit consists of 27 beds, with plans to add 10 more beds in June. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, CAD, renal failure, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and post-cath lab patients. RNs will not pull sheaths but should ideally have experience with TR bands and Fem stops. No titration of drips is required; commonly seen medications include set-rate diltiazem and amiodarone. Epinephrine or nitroglycerin will not be administered on this unit. Telemetry technicians will be on the floor until June, after which services will be centralized off-site. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present and do not take patients. Nurse aides are available with a ratio of 1:8 or 1:9. Respiratory team will manage equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow. Shifts run from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, and weekend and holiday coverage will be required. Floating to similar units and Med/Surg may occur as well as to additional units if experienced. Scrub color is flexible, as long as attire is clean, well kept, and professional. Candidates must be able to adhere to the specified radius rule for employment.
